EMDR is a gentle form of therapy used to bring healing from traumatic events that have occurred within an individual's life. It traces present concerns back to irrational core beliefs that developed when painful events were not properly processed. Through eye movements and other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR guides the brain to more effectively problem solve thus guiding a person toward greater clarity and self-acceptance.
Trained in Level 1 & 2 Gottman Method
The Gottman Method is a form of couples therapy which is guided by years of research and interventions that are widely studied and proven to be extremely effective. The Gottman Method seeks to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase respect and connection; remove barriers to healthy communication; and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of relationship.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
CBT is a collaborative form of therapy that guides a person to recognize the connection between thought patterns, behaviours and our relationship to others. By challenging some of the negative thought patterns, clients are more equipped to problem-solve through difficult situations, face future fears and implement new behaviours, all while motivating a sense of hope. The use of CBT, guides individuals toward being their own therapist outside of the session by practicing exercises within the session, and implementing goals that can be worked on at home
